Description
The course is organized by the AIR Centre in collaboration with the Portugal Space Agency and the Directorate-General for the Territory, under the Framework Partnership Agreement for the Use of Copernicus (FPCUP). ESA‘s Sentinel-3 satellite mission provides global and systematic measurements of the topography, color and temperature of the sea surface. This course aims to promote the use and uptake of Sentinel-3 data among core national users (public administration, academia, non-governmental organizations, private sector). At the end of the course, participants are expected to have acquired a broad understanding of Sentinel-3 mission, and learned how to use software and computer programming to process and visualize Sentinel-3 satellite imagery, with a focus on marine applications. The course is led by several experts and in the form of practical hands-on sessions. No specific background is required.
The FPCUP is an initiative developed and funded by the European Commission, currently covering 48 partners from 23 European countries. These events are supported by the European Union’s Caroline Herschel Framework Partnership Agreement on Copernicus User Uptake under grant agreement No FPA 275/G/GRO/COPE/17/10042, project FPCUP (Framework Partnership Agreement on Copernicus User Uptake), Action No 2019-1-26, Action title “Portuguese Users Coordination and Training – Part II”, SGA grant no 10.

Description
The blue economy is an emerging field of study that focuses on the sustainable use of ocean resources. The blue economy has been gaining momentum in recent years as a way to create economic growth that is both environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive. In particular, it offers a promising avenue for promoting regional cooperation and integration in the Atlantic area.
The Atlantic area is home to a wealth of marine resources, making it an ideal location for blue economy development. This session ‘Towards a Blue Economy in the Atlantic area’, will bring together leaders in the field to discuss the opportunities and challenges of developing the blue economy in the Atlantic region. Join us to discuss the potential for this approach to promote biodiversity and sustainable development in the region, but also to look into the challenges to the health of our oceans, seas and coasts.

New Challenges for the Azorean Start-up Ecosystem
More Info
Entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology transfer are complementary areas and appear hand in hand in what is their potential and impact on smart specialization strategies (RIS3). Seeking to follow the steps already taken in some Portuguese regions and across Europe, RIS3 for the Azores has been recently reviewed and improved, adopting a more comprehensive framework, while increasingly serving the political aims of the Region in terms of specialization and economic diversification. With this in mind and grounded on the notion that the new RIS3 Azores alongside with the upcoming and available EU funding programmes represent strong opportunity for innovation, entrepreneurship and the much need economic restructuring of the Region, this panel is intended to present and discuss projects that are being led by tech startups and that are good examples of how the new RIS3 Azores can bring real added value, in areas of strategic interest for the Azores.
